I have been travelling full-time since the start of 2022 and in that time have explored Canada, USA, France and Mexico. Quitting your job and choosing to fly to the other side of the world is never an easy decision to make, so here's why I did it.
I took my first big solo travel trip back in 2019 when I was in my second year of university; it was an option as part of my degree that you could do a semester abroad. I chose, out of a few options, to go to Canada and before I knew it I was on a plane to Toronto to start studying for 3 months at Brock University, Ontario. When I was approaching the end of the university semester I knew that I wanted to see more of what the beautiful country had to offer, and so, with a bit of savings money behind me, I filled up the rest of my 6 month visa by hopping around some of the most stunning mountains, picturesque seaside fishing villages and booming metropolitan cities.
I then had to return home to complete the final year of my degree - which, like the rest of the world, got completely turned upside down by a certain 2020 pandemic.
I worked full-time in hospitality around lockdowns and changes in the pandemic but knew that I was itching to get back to travelling. I was starting to take small trips here and there in between work and in December 2021 I handed in my letter of resignation and packed my backpack for a few months in Canada, the country that inspired all of this! One year later, I’ve spent a total of 10 months in Canada, 1 month at home (with a week in France), and have just begun new adventures in California, USA.
